This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit communityscienceworkshops.org (the “Site”), sign up for our newsletter, contact us, or make a donation.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you have questions, you can reach us at the contact information at the end of this policy.

Information We Collect

We collect only the information you choose to provide to us directly through the Site. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and we do not passively collect browsing data beyond what is necessary for the Site to function.

Credit card details are submitted directly to Stripe and are never transmitted to or stored by us; we do not have access to your full card number or other sensitive payment credentials. Stripe’s handling of this information is governed by Stripe’s own privacy policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.

We use the information described above to:

  • Send you our newsletter and communications you’ve signed up to receive

We retain names and email addresses collected through the newsletter sign-up and contact forms indefinitely, in order to maintain our communications and historical records. If you would like us to delete your information, you may contact us at any time using the information below, and we will honor reasonable deletion requests.

Third-Party Service Providers

We rely on the following third-party services to operate parts of the Site:

  • Mailchimp, for managing and sending our email newsletter. Mailchimp’s privacy practices are described at mailchimp.com/legal/privacy.
  • Stripe, for securely processing donations. Stripe’s privacy practices are described at stripe.com/privacy.

These providers process information on our behalf and maintain their own privacy and security practices, which we encourage you to review.

Cookies and Tracking

The Site does not currently use cookies for analytics, advertising, or tracking purposes, and we do not use any third-party analytics platforms. If this changes in the future, we will update this policy accordingly.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 through the Site’s newsletter sign-up, contact form, or donation pages. While some of our in-person events and programs may involve children, any related registration or data collection for those events is handled separately from this Site and, where applicable, through a parent or guardian. If we become aware that a child under 13 has submitted personal information directly through the Site, we will delete that information promptly.

Your Privacy Choices

You may unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link included in our emails. You may also contact us directly to ask what information we hold about you, request a correction, or request deletion of your information.

California Residents

We welcome visitors from California and are committed to being transparent about our data practices. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, GACSW is generally not subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), which applies to for-profit businesses. As a matter of practice, however, we do not sell or share personal information, and we will honor reasonable requests from California residents to access or delete the personal information we hold about them, consistent with the practices described in this policy.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the personal information you share with us. Donation and payment information is handled by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. The “Effective Date” at the top of this policy will be updated accordingly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
